Municipal solid waste disposal should follow the principles of reduction, recycling, and harmlessness. At present, there are mainly three treatment methods: landfill, composting, and incineration. The landfill method has small investment, low operating costs, and simple operating equipment; the composting method converts biodegradable organic matter from domestic waste into stable humus to obtain organic fertilizers; the incineration method can eliminate toxic substances in high-temperature pyrolysis.
