First Comprehensive Waste Sorting Center in Wuhan's Huangpi District to Launch Soon

Lee 2026-05-21

Currently, waste sorting has become an important issue in urban fine management and ecological civilization construction. However, the imbalance between the accelerated promotion of front-end sorting and the insufficient capacity of end-of-pipe disposal remains a prominent "pain point" in many regions as they advance waste sorting efforts.

The Comprehensive Waste Sorting Center in Huangpi District, Wuhan

As one of the first "National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Zones", Huangpi District, Wuhan, has taken the initiative to break the deadlock and implement precise measures, presenting its own solution—investing 235 million yuan to build the first comprehensive sorting and treatment center for domestic waste in the district. Currently, the project has entered its final stretch and is scheduled to be completed and put into trial operation in June this year. In this "tough battle" to address the shortcomings in waste disposal and protect the urban and rural ecology, GEP ECOTECH has injected crucial momentum into the high-quality advancement of the project with its advanced customized technical solutions, efficient implementation capabilities, and attentive after-sales service, becoming an important partner in Huangpi's ecological governance.

Addressing Weaknesses: Huangpi Builds a "Comprehensive Factory" for Waste Disposal

Located on the south side of Qianchuan Industrial New Town in Huangpi, this project covers an area of approximately 55.72 mu. It is the first large-scale, standardized project dedicated to specialized garbage disposal in Huangpi District. Upon its completion and commissioning, it will completely break the bottleneck of insufficient end-of-life disposal capacity for domestic waste in the entire district, fill the gap in comprehensive regional waste sorting and disposal, and establish a closed-loop system of "classification → sorting → recycling  harmlessness".

The project boasts a huge "appetite" and comprehensive capabilities, with a designed daily comprehensive disposal capacity of up to 700 tons of various types of waste, including:

  • Municipal Solid Waste (MSW): 500 tons/day
  • Food waste: 100 tons/day
  • Bulky and recyclable waste: 100 tons/day

After being put into use, the project will effectively solve the long-standing problems of "waste besieging the city" and "waste besieging the village" that have plagued urban and rural development, truly achieving the core goals of reducing, recycling, and harmlessly disposing of domestic waste—various recyclables will be sorted and processed to "turn waste into treasure" and achieve resource recycling; the remaining non-recyclable materials will be uniformly packaged and transported to incineration plants for thermal power generation, realizing "Waste-to-Energy" and achieving a win-win situation for both ecological and economic benefits.

GEP ECOTECH Solution: Customized Process for Efficient Disposal and Resource Recycling

In response to practical challenges such as the large volume of bulky waste, high difficulty in shredding, diverse types of recyclables, and low sorting efficiency, the project team, after extensive investigation and comparison, ultimately chose GEP ECOTECH, which has mature technology and rich experience in the field of solid waste disposal, to tailor-make a core processing production line for the project, accurately matching the waste disposal needs of Huangpi District.

Based on the actual project situation, GEP ECOTECH has tailored two core solutions: a bulky waste treatment line and a recyclable material sorting line, achieving a three-in-one integration of "classification disposal, resource recycling, and high-efficiency and energy-saving".

The Bulky Waste Treatment Line (Shredding + Magnetic Separation)

The Bulky Waste Treatment Line

Targeting bulky waste such as old sofas, mattresses, and wooden furniture, it employs a dual-shaft shredder for efficient shredding. And after shredding, precise separation of metal resources is achieved through magnetic separation equipment, enabling metal recycling and reuse. The volume of remaining materials after shredding is significantly reduced, which not only facilitates subsequent transportation but also reduces the cost of incineration disposal, truly achieving the dual benefits of "reduction and resource recycling".

The Recyclable Sorting Line (Multi-Stage Screening)

The Recyclable Sorting Line

It relies on the collaborative operation of multi-stage equipment such as roller screen, magnetic separator, and ballistic screen to achieve automated and precise separation of different types of recyclables such as metals, plastics, waste textiles, and paper. The entire process requires minimal manual intervention, which not only reduces labor costs but also enhances sorting efficiency. At the same time, it also takes into account the advantages of low energy consumption and high cost-effectiveness, ensuring the maximum utilization of recyclable resources.

Efficient Service: GEP ECOTECH's After-Sales Team Wins the "Time Battle"

During the project installation period, due to multiple factors such as tight deadline, heavy installation task, and complex on-site working condition, the equipment installation and commissioning work faced significant challenges. Facing this test, GEP ECOTECH's after-sales team responded quickly and took the initiative, demonstrating exceptional professionalism and efficient execution.

The after-sales team was stationed on-site throughout the entire process, closely cooperating and collaborating with the on-site installtion team. They proactively optimized the installation process, worked overtime to catch up on the schedule and ensure quality. Under the premise of strictly adhering to safety regulations and ensuring the accuracy of equipment installation, they completed the installation and commissioning of all core equipment with guaranteed quality and quantity, thus gaining valuable time for the project to smoothly enter the trial run phase. The service spirit of "customer first, pragmatic and efficient, capable of fighting tough battles" of GEP ECOTECH has won high recognition and unanimous praise from the project party and relevant departments in Huangpi District.

The Recyclable Sorting Line

The upcoming commissioning of the first integrated sorting and treatment center for domestic waste in Huangpi District not only marks a significant milestone in the district's efforts to promote the creation of a "waste-free city" and improve its ecological governance system, but also serves as another benchmark case for GEP ECOTECH's contribution to urban and rural environmental governance and the implementation of green development concepts. It provides replicable and scalable practical experience for regional domestic waste disposal.

In the future, GEP ECOTECH will continue to deeply cultivate into the field of solid waste disposal, with technological innovation as its core and quality service as its backbone. We will continuously iterate and upgrade customized solutions, providing more advanced technology, more reliable equipment, and more attentive services. We aim to assist more regions in solving waste disposal challenges, promote the green, low-carbon, and circular development of domestic waste, safeguard the ecological homeland with professional strength, and contribute solid "GEP ECOTECH power" to building a beautiful China and promoting the construction of ecological civilization.
